WHERE’S MY CENTER? – by Triniti Gawthrop, founder of Ami Wellness

What do you think of when I say “Center”?   I always picture my belly button… eyes closed, I am sitting there trying to meditate and not laugh out loud thinking to myself… there it is, lint free, found it!

Being centered takes effort in “regular” life.  I am struggling to find it in today’s “new normal” and I am running out of tips and tricks to follow to manage the amount of stress I am feeling.  Between e-learning, mask and vaccination debates, recession or no recession, and trying to figure what is really safe, I am overwhelmed.

So what am I doing that helps:

  • breathing
  • moving my body
  • meditating (WIP)
  • connecting with friends
  • finding pockets of joy, especially with my family
  • spending time in nature

Those are all working, sort of.


I have a high tolerance for emotional and physical stress, so when I created our Calm products, I created them for someone else, they were not something I considered for myself.

As I worked with our team of MD’s, PHD’s and herbalists to formulate Calm we were hyper focused on safety, efficacy and it had to work fast.  To do this we knew we needed to include really powerful plants including Adaptogens, because adaptogens are uniquely suited to help our bodies manage stress.


A LOT! Recently I noticed my stress was starting to manifest as headaches, loss of focus and being short tempered, poor sleep quality and jaw issues.

I needed help, so I did what I always do, I started to research.  As I built a list of herbal supplements that could help with my stress, I started with adaptogens like Holy Basil, Ashwagandha, Reishi, Lemon Balm and Blue Skullcap. Then I dove into calmatives like California Poppy, Oat Seed, Ylang-Ylang and Rose Flowers.  I quickly realized the solution I needed already exists, it’s our Calm products.

I needed to give myself permission to get help, I needed to remind myself that supporting my mind and body with holistic wellness is self-care.  I needed to learn that admitting that I could not manage my stress by myself was not failing, it was giving myself an opportunity to succeed.

I am proud to stand with our Calm users today.  Their stories of how they found wellness with these products are inspiring. I have my own Calm story now; the tincture has significantly reduced my nighttime stress. I no longer have racing thoughts at bedtime, I sleep more peacefully, and I have stopped clenching my jaw, which has reduced my headaches and jaw issues.
